Our School

At Annan we treat children as individuals recognising each child’s unique learning style and interests. Children learn in bright airy classrooms and in the beautiful outdoor space around the school.   The curriculum is inspiring, creative and meaningful and learning is active and purposeful. Annan is a family run school where the Principals are involved in every part of school life and the school community. Relationships are central to the ethos that we create to keep children feeling safe, secure valued and listened to. Children learn to respect each other and the world around them. Children strive to do the very best they can because they are highly motivated and excited by their school experience. Children’s written work is of an outstanding standard because it is valued and celebrated.

Staff care passionately about the children at the school and are highly qualified professionals who love working at Annan. Outdoor Learning and Forest School are an holistic part of school life for every child.

At Annan children grow into happy, self-confident, respectful and caring young people. Children move onto secondary school with a love for learning, an independent and confident learning approach and a thirst for challenge.

What do parents say about Annan?

Alexander has benefited hugely in being with you. We experience him as a happy and confident, outgoing, reflective and highly able person who has also achieved great success academically.

In an age when the education system is berated for its lack of creativity and ability to cover areas outside the core curriculum, it is fantastic that time can be taken to create opportunities that will stay with the children for life.

Today was a marvellous day.  full of learning, experiences and joy.  Tonight my boys have been talking non-stop and have clearly gained so much from all the time, talent and energy given to them. Another golden day from Annan.

Who inspects the school?

The last inspections were carried out by Ofsted.  The kindergarten was rated Outstanding in all areas.  The main school received Good with Outstanding features. Our next inspection will be by the Independent Schools Inspectorate.  .

Where do children go when they leave at 11?

After Annan children go on with confidence to a range of different secondary schools in the local area. Children have won scholarships to Lewes Old Grammar and Brighton College. Others have gained spaces at Bedes, Mayfield Girls, Michael Hall, Skippers Hill Prep and other independent schools further afield.  A significant number also go on to local comprehensive schools including Priory, Uckfield Community College, Heathfield, Ringmer and Chailey Schools.
