Friends of Annan School

Friends of Annan School

The Friends of Annan Scholl is a group to which all parents at the school belong.  It is run by a committee of parents, in partnership with the school. The main aims of the group are to fundraise for the school, to organise social events to build community at the school and to establish links and represent the school in the wider local community.

Although Annan is a fee-paying school, the fees pay primarily for the  teaching staff and day to day running of the school and basic equipment and do not leave much over for additional resources and extras. The Friends was set up in 2010 and has successfully raised thousands of pounds which have paid for a range of resources for the children such as library books, gardening equipment and camping equipment and enhancements to the outdoor areas. The Friends group also organises a host of events such as the Winter Festival, the summer Strawberry tea, the Auction of Promises and Cheese and Wine evenings. The Friends do not get involved in the governance of the school.

On this page you can find minutes of Friends meetings. Please let us know if you’d like to join our committee, which meets roughly every half term.

Money raised by the Friends has paid for IT equipment, outdoor benches and seating, new resources for the library, music players, a set of Samba Band instruments and has supported the maths equipment to go into a maths tool kit for home use.

How can I support the Friends?

The Friends committee often call for offers of help in the weekly newsletter or on posters around school.  You can get involved iin a small way by helping at an event, buying tickets for yourself and friends to their events, making contributions of cakes or other items.  Parents are also needed to act as Class Reps to publicise Friends activities.
