On Wednesday we took about half of the Infant children to Hurstwood View care home for singing, stories and games. We are planning to take small groups of children on a regular basis as it is so clear to see how these visits benefit both generations. We really enjoyed singing ‘Daisy Daisy’ and other songs altogether, thank you to John for accompanying on guitar! Tassy also played her guitar for the residents, which was warmly received. One resident had happy tears in her eyes as she shared a story with a couple of children and looking around the room it was so lovely to see children and residents working together on jigsaw puzzles and even a game of Junior scrabble!
We have already received very positive feedback and are looking forward to our next visit:
“Thank you so much for today, it was so enjoyable. Fun was had by all I think! I’m really hoping we can carry on visiting and building links with each other.” (Activities co-ordinator)
We will be taking the whole Infant House to Hurstwood View for our annual Christmas performance on Wednesday 13th December. This will be a morning visit and we will put on a Christmas performance for the residents. In the New Year we will continue to take groups of children to the care home, hopefully for regular afternoon slots. If your child did not attend this most recent group visit then they will be involved in our next smaller group visit in addition to the Christmas performance.
Many thanks to the parent volunteers who joined us this week. We would love to welcome parent volunteers again for the Christmas performance on 13th December. Please do get in touch if you would like to join us.
